Updates: Tuesday, March 17th, 2020
In light of recent events regarding COVID-19, and in consultation with Governor Gavin Newsom’s office, the LA County Department of Public Health, and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, we’d like to make you aware of the following changes in our parish:
The Archdiocese of Los Angeles has issued an official statement cancelling all celebration of daily and Sunday Masses starting March 17th, 2020 and until further notice. St John’s will livestream Mass on Facebook and Instagram Monday through Friday at 8:30am, Saturday at 5:00pm, Sunday at 7am 11:30am and 6:30pm in Spanish, and Sunday at 8:30am, 10am and 5pm in English.
Though Masses may be suspended until further notice, all are welcome to say a prayer of Spiritual Communion. This is a challenging time for our Catholic Church but we all remain hopeful and anticipate with joy the moment we are able to receive Jesus in the Holy Eucharist.
Confessions will now be only once a week on Saturdays at 3:30pm.
For the safety of our youth and families in our parish community, Faith Formation Classes, such as First Communion, Confirmation, and RCIA, have been cancelled until further notice. First Confessions have been postponed to a later date.
Our new Parish Office hours are Monday through Friday 9am to 6pm, and Saturdays 8am to 2pm. Our Parish Gift Shop will remain closed until further notice.
Friday night Bingo is cancelled until further notice. Stations of the Cross have been cancelled. All ministries and group meetings have been cancelled until further notice.
We ask all parishioners to please follow us on Facebook and Instagram under the username @stjohnsbp. Social media is currently the most effective method of communication between our parish team and our parish community. We will be posting any updates to Facebook and Instagram as soon as we receive them.
