How to Register

Please visit our Parish Office to

register, the registration is to be

completed by a parent of the child to

be baptized.


 At the time of

registration, we ask for a $50

donation (in cash or check) and the

child’s birth certificate.


Parents will be given a Godparent

Eligibility form to be given and filled

out by the sponsors and to drop off

that form at the Parish Office or

during the workshop at our parish we

no longer accept online workshop

certificates.


We recommend that you register at

least a month before desired baptism

date. Space is limited for each of the

dates that we have available, so make

sure that if you want a specific date

please reserve with enough time in

advance.


The $50 donation is Non

Refundable.



Registration Documents


Children must be under 7 years of age

· If they are 7 years old or over, they are to

be entered into another program called

OCIC. Please ask the front office for more

information if this is your case.


Requirements for Godparents

· Must be at least 16 years of age.


· Must have received the Sacraments of

Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation.


· Godparents may be single.


· If they are married, they must be married

through the Catholic Church.


Both parents and godparents must attend a Pre-Baptismal Workshop.


If you are not able to attend the Workshop in

our parish, you may:


· Attend the workshop at another Catholic

Parish. You must present proof of attendance to our Parish Office at least ine week

before Baptism in person or by mail.

Workshops are listed below.

Please remember that the workshop is

to be taken by parents and godparents.

For those who wish to take our

workshop at St. John’s but will be

baptizing in a different Parish:


· There will be a requested donation

of $10 per Person.


· You do not need to pre-register to

take the class. Simply present yourself at the workshop at any of the

dates listed below.


· You will be given a certificate of

completion at the conclusion of the

workshop.

Workshops certificates are valid for one year.

Ceremony

All Baptisms are held on Saturdays.

The child, parents, and godparents

must arrive at least 15 minutes

before the scheduled Baptism time.


The Baptism Certificate will be handed

to the parents immediately following the

ceremony.


In addition, both parents and godparents are required to attend one pre-baptismal class prior to your child's baptism. Classes are offered the first Wednesday of the month in both English and in Spanish.

Baptism is the initial sacrament of God's grace in a Christian life with the Holy Spirit.  Through Baptism we are freed from sin,  reborn as God's children through water in the Word, and become part of the Catholic Church community, (CCC 1213).


We are delighted to welcome you as you come to plan the Baptism of your child here with our St. John the Baptist Community.
